Wood Carved "Four Figures in Bark" Sculpture

A unique carving from the African blackwood locally known as "Mpingo". The heartwood is totally removed leaving only the bark or sapwood encircling four mosquito wood figures that have been inserted in the base of the wood. There is a crack under the base that cannot be seen when the sculpture is displayed. This piece was carved in Kenya and purchased in the village of Ukunda on the south coast of Kenya.
